Position Announcement: Medical Director

HAVEN, East Berlin, CT

 

The Health Assistance interVention Education Network for Connecticut Health Professionals, Inc. (HAVEN, www.haven-ct.org)) invites applications for the position of Medical Director. This position serves as an organizational manager and an important contributor to clinical monitoring services.

 

HAVEN is a non-profit organization established by professional membership organizations to provide intervention, support, and accountability for professionals licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health and Department of Consumer Protection/Drug control Division who have a diagnosis or situation which could affect their ability to practice safely. Examples of these conditions include substance abuse or dependence, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, degenerative neurologic conditions, and cognitive disorders.

 

HAVEN is a confidential resource to the extent provided by law. HAVEN is dedicated to promoting professional health and wellness. Although HAVEN does not provide care and treatment, the primary role of the Medical Director is to make recommendations regarding care and treatment with ultimate decisions about monitoring being made by HAVEN’s medical review committee. The medical director will also work with and manage additional clinical staff members and oversee support services and follow ongoing compliance with wellness programs for participants in HAVEN. The medical director will carry a divided case load of participants and also be responsible for quality improvement/assurance and all clinical policies, procedures and workflows.

 

While there are no holiday or weekend hours, this is a full-time position, four days in-office, one day remote.

 

The Medical Director contributes to and implements the standards for the operational excellence of the program. He or she will work with the CEO as a public voice of HAVEN with training programs, organizational leadership, and others.

 

The Medical Director will attend monthly Medical Review Committee Meetings and quarterly Oversight Committee Meetings and assist with delivery of educational presentations.

 

The successful candidate will be an MD or DO, with prior management experience, and board certification, in internal medicine, psychiatry, and/or addiction medicine. Experience in substance use and mental health treatment as well as demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to quality improvement and operational excellence are desired qualifications. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with relationship-centered interpersonal skills, detail oriented, and a hands-on leadership style.
